Aden displaced persons transition to community leadership roles

In Aden, Yemen, displaced populations are transitioning from passive recipients of aid to active participants in community organization. Within the Al-Shuruq camp, residents are forming elected community committees to bridge the gap between the displaced population, local authorities, and humanitarian organizations.

These committees, led by individuals such as Samih, a resident displaced since 2015, aim to identify specific community needs and communicate them more effectively to service providers. This model seeks to improve accountability and ensure that the voices of vulnerable groups, including women and persons with disabilities, are included in decision-making processes regarding essential services.
