Aden Duale rejects calls to withdraw from North Eastern politics

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has rejected calls to withdraw from local politics in the North Eastern region of Kenya. Speaking at a resource mobilization event, Duale asserted that his two decades of public leadership entitle him to express his views on regional leadership, including gubernatorial, parliamentary, and Senate contests.

Duale’s stance follows growing tension with regional politicians who have accused him of overstepping his authority. In Wajir, Representative Fatuma Abdi Jehow criticized his interference, stating that political destinies should be decided by voters rather than external figures. Similarly, Dadaab MP Farah Maalim has threatened to mobilize residents to demand Duale’s removal from government if he continues to interfere in local democratic processes.

Duale dismissed these appeals, stating he will not force his opinions on others but will continue to voice his assessments of political developments in areas such as Garissa, Fafi, Balambala, Dadaab, and Ijara.
