Aden faces gas supply crisis amid unauthorized distribution

Aden is facing a severe gas supply crisis characterized by distribution irregularities and a burgeoning black market. Reports indicate that storage institutions and large-scale consumers are bypassing official procedures established by the Aden Gas Facility. Despite a strict directive from the facility's manager, Abdulaziz Musad Baras, prohibiting gas distribution without official documentation, some entities are reportedly securing supplies through unauthorized channels.

The shortage has led to the near-total shutdown of official stations responsible for domestic cylinders and vehicle fuel. Sources suggest that official allocations intended for the public are being diverted to large factories and restaurants. This diversion has caused gas prices in the black market to surge, with 20-liter canisters reportedly reaching 19,000 Yemeni riyals. The situation has raised concerns regarding market manipulation, hoarding, and the potential for widespread economic hardship for local citizens.
