Aden faces security threats and new logistics developments
Aden is facing heightened security and humanitarian challenges due to Houthi militia escalations. The British Ambassador to Yemen, Abdo Sharif, met with Aden Governor Abdurrahman Sheikh to discuss the impact of Houthi attacks on the capital and the resulting displacement of people from Taiz and Al Hudaydah provinces. Sharif condemned the targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure.
In response to security threats, Governor Sheikh reported that security forces have conducted operations in the Shamsan mountains, resulting in the apprehension of wanted individuals and Houthi-linked cells. The local authority is working to manage the influx of displaced families while maintaining urban stability.
On the economic front, a delegation from the British-American logistics firm Move One visited the Aden Container Terminal. Led by Jess Reid, the delegation discussed expanding the company’s operations in Yemen through its local representative, World Gate for Navigation and Shipping Services. The company intends to support humanitarian logistics, including the transport of food, medicine, and agricultural supplies to various Yemeni provinces.
