Aden hosts first board meeting for Yemen's Roads and Bridges Corporation

Hussein Awad al-Aqrabbi, the Minister of Public Works and Roads, chaired the first board meeting of the General Corporation for Roads and Bridges in the temporary capital, Aden. The meeting included representatives from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, and the Road Maintenance Fund.

Participants discussed the corporation's current activity levels, ongoing projects, and the primary challenges facing the sector. Minister al-Aqrabbi emphasized the importance of resuming board activities in Aden to support the institution and restore its role in maintaining the national road network. He expressed a goal to transition the corporation from a struggling status to a competitive and effective entity capable of regaining the trust of donors and supporters.

The board reviewed the corporation's establishment law and organizational regulations to enhance transparency and governance. Key recommendations included preparing quarterly progress reports, activating inspection and oversight mechanisms, and developing an operational budget and work plan for 2027.
