Aden hosts workshop to protect Yemeni coffee from climate change

A three-day training workshop concluded in Aden aimed at enhancing Arabica coffee productivity to combat the effects of climate change. The event was organized by the Yemeni National Commission for Education, Culture and Science in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, with support from the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO).

Thirty-five participants, including experts, academics, and representatives from agricultural and marketing associations, attended the sessions. The workshop featured 11 scientific papers addressing the strategic importance of coffee as a national crop and discussing ways to improve production and marketing despite environmental challenges.

Key recommendations from the participants included improving agricultural processes and variety selection, implementing rainwater harvesting and ionic cloud seeding techniques, transitioning toward organic farming by reducing chemical pesticides, and monitoring quality across the entire value chain from production to local and international markets.
