Aden International Airport targeted by Houthi missile strikes

Houthi rebels launched a missile attack on Aden International Airport in southern Yemen, marking the second such strike on the facility in less than a week. The missiles landed near the runway, approximately 500 metres from a Yemenia Airways aircraft that was preparing for takeoff to Cairo. While no casualties were reported from the airport strike, the attack occurred amidst heightened regional tensions.

The escalation follows a deadly strike on the Maashiq Presidential Palace in Aden on Thursday, which killed five people and wounded 16. Houthi military sources claimed the airport strike targeted a Saudi-led coalition command headquarters and weapons depots at Badr Camp. The Yemeni government and the Ministry of Transport condemned the attacks as grave violations of international law and direct threats to civilian aviation safety.

The Arab League has called on the international community to hold those responsible for attacks on Aden and Marib accountable, describing the strikes as a dangerous escalation that undermines stability and peace efforts in Yemen.
