Aden University students receive free transport via Ministry of Transport initiative

The Yemeni Ministry of Transport has launched a free public transportation initiative for students at Aden University. The project, inaugurated by Minister of Transport Mohsen Haidara al-Omari and Aden University President Dr. Al-Khader Lasour, aims to alleviate the economic and living burdens on students amidst current regional challenges.

The initiative utilizes five buses from the General Corporation for Local Land Transport. The service is scheduled to run until the end of the 2026-2027 academic year. To facilitate student movement, specific routes have been established covering various districts including Sheikh Othman, Dar Saad, Al-Buraiqeh, Crater, and Tawahi.

Buses are set to depart from designated gathering points at 7:00 AM, with return trips from the university campus scheduled for 2:00 PM. The Ministry of Transport is funding the fuel and operational costs for the project to address the ongoing transportation crisis in Aden caused by the reduction of gas-powered bus services.
