Aden officials and Southern Transitional Council address displacement

Authorities in Aden and the Southern Transitional Council are addressing the increasing waves of displacement into southern governorates. The Southern Transitional Council’s General Secretariat has emphasized the need to regulate displacement through clear mechanisms that preserve both humanitarian and security aspects, while rejecting the militarization of civilian life in Aden and other southern provinces.

In a separate effort to manage the humanitarian impact, Yemen’s Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Mukhtar Al-Yafie, and the Minister of State/Governor of Aden, Abdulrahman Sheikh, met with the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and various international organizations. The discussions focused on the needs of displaced persons arriving from Taiz and Al Hudaydah, specifically regarding shelter and basic necessities.

Minister Al-Yafie announced plans to form a high committee to organize and coordinate relief work, ensuring aid is distributed fairly based on actual priorities. Local authorities stressed that humanitarian efforts must be conducted through official frameworks to ensure integrated roles between government agencies and international partners.
