Aden prepares new camp for thousands of displaced Yemenis

Authorities in Aden, Yemen, are preparing a new displacement camp in the Al-Fardous area of the Al-Buraiqeh district to accommodate thousands of people fleeing military escalation by Houthi forces. The camp, managed by the Executive Unit for IDP Camp Management, is expected to have a capacity of between 3,000 and 5,000 people.

In recent days, over 200 families from areas including Hays, Mocha, and Al-Khawkha have arrived in Aden. The Executive Unit reported that 2,398 new families were displaced in a single day across Taiz and Lahj provinces, bringing the total number of monitored families to 9,760. The International Organization for Migration has noted that at least 46,000 people have been displaced due to the intensification of fighting over the past week.

Aden Governor Abdulrahman Sheikh and Minister of Electricity Adnan Al-Kaf recently inspected the site to oversee progress on tent installation and essential services. Officials emphasized the need for coordination with humanitarian organizations to provide food, shelter, and healthcare to the arriving families.
