Aden prosecution investigates expired urea shipment from Mocha

The Industry and Trade Prosecution in Aden has launched an investigation into a shipment of expired urea fertilizer. The shipment, consisting of 12 trucks, was intercepted at the Ras Imran checkpoint by security forces.

According to Judge Samia Al-Qubati, the deputy of the Industry and Trade Prosecution, the cargo originated from Mocha and was reportedly destined for Houthi-controlled areas. The shipment lacks official documentation to prove legal ownership or lawful entry into the country.

Authorities expressed concern that the investigation must extend beyond the expired status of the fertilizer. Because urea can be used illicitly to manufacture explosives and certain types of rocket fuel, officials are working to verify the intended use and the final destination of the materials. A joint committee including representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and the Ministry of Industry and Trade has participated in the field inspection to complete technical and legal procedures.
