Aden residents appeal for urgent restart of Delta Abyan water wells
Residents of Aden are issuing urgent appeals to the leadership of the Aden and Abyan governorates to address a severe water shortage by restarting the Delta Abyan wells field. The field, specifically the Al-Husn (Rawa) project, serves as a vital artery for the capital, supplying drinking water through a 60-kilometer pipeline.
Citizens are calling on Minister of State and Governor of Aden, Abdulrahman Sheikh Al-Yafei, and Governor of Abyan, Major General Dr. Mukhtar Al-Rabash Al-Haythami, to coordinate efforts to resolve technical and security obstacles. The appeals emphasize that the current decline in water flow and frequent outages are exacerbating humanitarian, living, and health burdens on local families.
Proposed solutions include immediate maintenance of the wells, securing stable energy sources such as solar power or fuel generators to ensure continuous pumping, and directing international and local organizational aid toward rehabilitating the main transmission lines and the field itself.
