Aden residents face sewage overflow crisis in Al-Khasaf

Residents of the Al-Khasaf neighborhood, located behind the Badib building in the Sira district of Aden, are reporting a severe sewage overflow crisis. The accumulation of wastewater in front of homes has created stagnant pools that residents say pose significant health and environmental risks, particularly for women and the elderly who struggle to navigate the area.

While the Water and Sanitation Corporation initially responded by providing pipes and workers to address the issue, the repair work has stalled. According to local reports, the project halted after workers requested 80,000 Yemeni Rials to complete the installation, a cost that neighbors have been unable to collectively fund. Residents have appealed to Sira district official Dr. Mahmoud Al-Jaradi and the Director General of the Water and Sanitation Corporation, Engineer Zaki Haddad, for urgent intervention to resolve the crisis.
