Aden sanitation workers launch city-wide strike

Workers and employees of the Cleaning Fund in Aden have launched a comprehensive strike across various districts of the city. The labor action is a protest against what workers describe as the continuous disregard for their living and professional demands.

Representatives stated that the strike follows failed attempts to resolve issues through dialogue, citing a lack of response to previous memos and statements. The workers' primary demands include improved living conditions, the payment of outstanding financial entitlements, and the settlement of insurance rights and fund revenues.

The strike has led to the accumulation of waste in numerous streets and neighborhoods, raising concerns regarding potential health and environmental crises and the spread of diseases. Workers have indicated that the strike will continue until their demands are fully met with a clear implementation schedule.
