Aden security forces arrest grooms for celebratory gunfire
Security authorities in Aden have detained two grooms following a wedding procession in the Al-Mansoura district, specifically in the Remi area. The arrests were triggered by heavy gunfire discharged during the celebration, which violated strict security directives prohibiting the use of weapons during social events.
According to the Aden Security Department, these measures follow mandates from the local security committee to curb the dangerous practice of celebratory gunfire. The enforcement package includes the immediate detention of violators, the confiscation of weapons, and referral to judicial authorities. Additionally, offenders face fines of up to one million Yemeni riyals.
Authorities emphasized that the crackdown aims to protect public safety and prevent civilian casualties, noting that stray bullets have previously caused deaths and injuries among women and children. The security administration stated it does not intend to disrupt celebrations but must act to maintain public order and prevent the misuse of firearms in residential neighborhoods.
