Aden workshop develops technical midwifery diploma program

A workshop was held in Aden to discuss the development of a technical midwifery diploma program and approve its educational outcomes. Organized by the General Directorate of Reproductive Health at the Ministry of Public Health and Population, the event received support from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

The workshop included 41 participants, including Ministry of Public Health and Population officials, academics, and representatives from the Dr. Amin Nasher Higher Institute for Health Sciences. The goal is to finalize the program components based on the competency methodology approved by the International Confederation of Midwives.

Dr. Salem Al-Shabahi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Health and Population for the Population Sector, emphasized that investing in midwife training is essential for improving the quality of care for women and newborns. Dr. Afrah Al-Adimi from the UNFPA noted that the program is being built on scientific and professional foundations to meet international standards in midwifery education and practice.
