ADEPAC to protest at Cabildo de Tenerife over Ravelo shelter future
The Association for the Defense and Protection of Animals of the Canary Islands (ADEPAC) has called for a protest on Friday, October 2, in front of the Cabildo de Tenerife headquarters. The demonstration, scheduled for 09:30 to coincide with the island's plenary session, aims to demand a solution that ensures the continuity of the Ravelo animal shelter.
ADEPAC reports that more than 300 animals are currently at risk due to administrative uncertainty. The association is seeking transparency and legal security regarding the shelter's future, noting that the lack of a stable framework affects workers' salaries, payments to suppliers, and the daily care of the animals.
Key points of contention include a formal response regarding a 240,000 euro subsidy approved in March and the need to revise or modify the existing collaboration agreement with the Cabildo. ADEPAC has expressed willingness to negotiate terms but claims that a meeting previously promised by the President of the Cabildo in July has yet to take place.
