Adesa requests new Transnordestina Railway branch to boost Pernambuco mining
The Araripe Economic and Social Development Agency (Adesa) has formally requested the Superintendency for the Development of the Northeast (Sudene) to revise the studies for a new branch of the Transnordestina Railway.
The proposed initiative aims to connect the São Francisco Valley to the Araripe Sertão, a move intended to stimulate the mining sector in Pernambuco. Adesa President Daniel Torres submitted an official request to Sudene Superintendent Francisco Ferreira Alexandre, suggesting an alternative 237-kilometer route between Petrolina and Trindade. The agency is seeking the necessary technical studies to evaluate this new path.
