ADFC cycling climate test launched across German regions
The ADFC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrrad-Club) has launched its latest 'Fahrradklima-Test' (cycling climate test), allowing residents to evaluate the bicycle-friendliness of their locations until November 30. This year, the survey includes a specific focus on children and adolescents to assess their safety and experiences while cycling independently.
In the Groß-Gerau district, organizers are encouraging participation to highlight where infrastructure is functional and where intersections or paths remain problematic. Similarly, in Wildeshausen, the Wildeshauser Initiative für Radverkehr (WIR) is calling for commuters and residents to participate. Wildeshausen previously ranked 247th out of 429 cities in a similar test, receiving low marks for comfort, safety, and mixed traffic with automobiles. Local measurements have already identified specific areas, such as Ahlhorner Straße, where high numbers of overtaking maneuvers by motor vehicles occur.
