ADFC launches nationwide bicycle climate survey in Germany
The ADFC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrrad-Club) is launching its 12th Bicycle Climate Test (FKT) from September 1 to November 30, 2026. This nationwide survey allows cyclists across Germany to evaluate the bicycle-friendliness of their cities and municipalities.
For the first time, the survey will include a dedicated component focusing on the perspectives of children and adolescents. This new element aims to assess their cycling habits and identify the specific safety requirements needed for young people to travel independently to school, sports, or leisure activities.
The assessment covers various aspects of cycling infrastructure, including the width of bike lanes, the clarity of intersections, and the overall condition of paths. The results, which help provide direct feedback to political decision-makers, are scheduled to be presented in the spring of 2027.
