ADFC launches nationwide 2026 bicycle climate test

The Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrrad-Club (ADFC) has launched its twelfth nationwide Fahrradklima-Test (Bicycle Climate Test) for 2026. Running from September 1 to November 30, the survey allows cyclists across Germany to evaluate the quality of local cycling infrastructure, including the condition of paths, signage, and safety at intersections.

A significant new feature of this edition is a dedicated survey for children and adolescents aged 10 to 20. This component aims to capture the specific needs, habits, and safety concerns of younger riders on school and leisure routes.

The initiative is supported by the Federal Ministry of Transport through the National Cycling Plan. The results, which include a nationwide ranking of the most bicycle-friendly municipalities, are expected to be published in early 2027. These findings are intended to provide political decision-makers with actionable data to improve urban mobility and cycling safety.
