ADFC launches nationwide cycling climate test in German cities
The General German Bicycle Club (ADFC) is conducting its twelfth annual cycling climate test, inviting residents of cities such as Herten and Mannheim to evaluate local cycling infrastructure and safety. The survey, which runs until November 30, aims to identify weaknesses in bicycle paths, intersection management, and parking availability to provide policymakers with data for future improvements.
For the first time, the initiative includes a dedicated survey for children and adolescents aged 10 to 20. This segment, known as ‘FKT Jugendliche’, seeks to capture the perspectives of young cyclists regarding safety on school routes and the overall attractiveness of cycling for daily commutes. Results from the nationwide study are expected to be presented in spring 2027, including a ranking of the most bicycle-friendly cities.
