ADFC promotes cycling through infrastructure audits and health symposiums
The German Cyclists’ Association (ADFC) is conducting various initiatives focused on urban cycling and its connection to public health. In Rheinfelden, residents have until November 30 to participate in the ADFC Fahrradklima-Test 2026. This biennial audit, supported by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport, requires at least 50 local responses to generate a statistically valid community score regarding bicycle infrastructure, safety, and accessibility.
The 2026 survey cycle includes a new questionnaire specifically for riders aged ten to twenty to address the mobility needs of younger commuters. Results from these surveys are compiled into municipal profiles to help local governments identify areas for intervention.
Additionally, the ADFC will host an international symposium in Berlin on October 14, 2026, titled ‘Gesundheit x Mobilität’ (Health x Mobility). The event aims to discuss how municipalities, healthcare, and politics can encourage daily cycling to combat physical inactivity and reduce healthcare costs. The symposium features experts from organizations such as WHO Europe and the Federal Ministry of Health.
