ADHD challenges in school routines

Children with ADHD often struggle to maintain school routines due to challenges with executive functions. Even when a child understands a routine, difficulties with attention, working memory, planning, organization, and task initiation can prevent them from consistently executing necessary steps.

While visual schedules, checklists, and predictable routines provide helpful external structure, persistent struggles may stem from underlying cognitive and developmental skills required for independent functioning.
