ADHD treatment and educational support discussed in Poland

Medical research and educational policy regarding Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) are being highlighted in Poland. Dr. Stanisław Szlufik, a neurologist and researcher at the Warsaw Medical University, is set to present on the neurobiological foundations of transcranial neuromodulation at the ADHD Forum 2026. His lecture will explore methods such as tDCS, tACS, and TMS, which use weak electrical currents or magnetic pulses to influence brain cortex activity related to attention, memory, and emotional regulation. The goal is to move toward personalized neuromodulation that uses neuroimaging and biomarkers to tailor interventions to individual patient profiles.

In the educational sector, discussions are ongoing regarding the lack of formal support for students with ADHD in the current Polish school system. Currently, an ADHD diagnosis alone is not sufficient to qualify for a special education certificate, which is required to access co-organizing teachers or remedial classes. Lawmakers have submitted inquiries to the Ministry of Education to address the consequences of this gap, including educational failure, mental health issues, and social exclusion. Parents often face the necessity of limiting their professional activities to provide the required support for their children.
