Adiala Jail security tightened ahead of PTI protest

Security has been significantly tightened around Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi ahead of a planned protest by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on September 27. Authorities have deployed 435 personnel, including members of the Elite Force, Dolphin Force, and district police, to manage the area. Security measures include establishing checkpoints at eight key locations, such as Dahgal and Gate Number One, and monitoring movement in nearby residential areas. Under the new security plan, some petrol pumps, hotels, and shops near the jail may be closed to limit unnecessary movement.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar has stated that the call for the September 27 protest is final and will not be revised. He expressed concern over the lack of access to PTI founder Imran Khan, noting that court orders regarding meetings and hospital transfers have not been fully implemented. While Gohar emphasized that the party intends to conduct a peaceful protest, he noted that authorities have already begun detaining workers. The protest is part of a larger campaign demanding the release of Imran Khan.
