Adiconsum calls for end to water shutoffs for compliant residents

Adiconsum Puglia and Adiconsum Taranto Brindisi are calling for reforms to prevent water supply suspensions in apartment buildings due to the unpaid debts of other residents. The association highlights a systemic issue where single communal meters make it difficult to separate individual responsibilities, leading to the risk of entire buildings losing water service if one unit is in arrears.

Representatives Emilio Di Conza and Gianfranco Solazzo are urging Acquedotto Pugliese and relevant authorities to implement systems that isolate individual user responsibilities. They advocate for the practical application of ARERA regulation 311/2019/R/idr, which promotes the individualization of consumption through smart metering and digital tools to ensure that residents who pay regularly are not penalized for the delinquency of others.
