Adiconsum Sardegna challenges Sant'Antioco B&B over denied refund for ill couple

A couple from Asti booked a bed & breakfast in Sant'Antioco, Sardinia, paying €609 for a stay scheduled from 23 June to 1 July 2026. On 22 June the woman, suffering from an oncological condition, was urgently hospitalized, making the trip impossible. The couple informed the B&B and requested a refund, but the operator refused any reimbursement.

Consumer association Adiconsum Sardegna filed a formal notice demanding the full amount be returned, invoking civil‑code provisions on impossibility of performance and warning of potential unjust enrichment. The B&B has not responded, and the dispute may proceed to court. President Giorgio Vargiu said such cases damage the reputation of Sardinian tourism and call for greater sensitivity toward serious illnesses.
