Adidas names Birgit Kretschmer as new CFO as Harm Ohlmeyer exits

Adidas announced that long‑time chief financial officer Harm Ohlmeyer, who has been with the company since 1998 and headed finance since 2017, will not extend his mandate and will leave the post before the end of his current term that ran to early 2028. He will hand over the CFO duties to Birgit Kretschmer, a former Adidas executive who spent about 25 years at the German firm before serving as CFO of C&A for the past six years. Kretschmer is slated to join the Adidas board on 1 September and will assume full responsibility for the finance department by the end of 2026/2027.

In the same period adidas reported a 14 % rise in second‑quarter 2026 revenue to €6.7 billion and a 5 % increase in operating profit to €574 million, driven largely by strong performance in football and running categories and by a major e‑commerce surge – direct‑to‑consumer sales grew 25 % and overall online sales rose 27 % in the quarter, 26 % in the first half of the year. The company upgraded its full‑year revenue growth outlook to 9‑10 %.

CEO Bjørn Gulden and supervisory board chair Nassef Sawiris praised Ohlmeyer’s role in navigating challenging periods and highlighted Kretschmer’s deep familiarity with Adidas’ financial operations as the basis for a smooth transition.
