Adidas launches Argentum Gambeta Derbi ball for Superclásico

Adidas has unveiled the Argentum Gambeta Derbi, a special edition match ball designed for high-profile Argentine football matches. The ball is scheduled to make its competitive debut this Sunday during the Superclásico between Boca Juniors and River Plate at La Bombonera.

The design draws heavily on Argentine football history, featuring a reinterpretation of the iconic Adidas Tango pattern used during the 1978 World Cup. It incorporates light blue laurel leaves, a vintage AFA crest, and a seal highlighting the number 10, a symbol associated with legends such as Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi. Additionally, the ball includes a lyric from the Argentine national anthem: “Sean eternos los laureles que supimos conseguir”.

Technically, the professional version features a textured polyurethane outer shell and a seamless, thermally bonded construction to improve flight stability, precision, and water resistance. It holds the FIFA Quality Pro certification. Unlike the standard league ball, the Argentum Gambeta Derbi will be reserved exclusively for marquee encounters, derbies, and crucial final stages throughout the season.
