Adidas Trionda ball selected for 2026 FIFA World Cup

Adidas' new Trionda ball will be the official match ball for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the first tournament co‑hosted by three nations – the United States, Mexico and Canada. Trionda, meaning “three waves”, is the 15th consecutive Adidas World Cup ball and features a red‑green‑blue colour scheme that honors each host country, with icons such as a maple leaf, an eagle and a star. Its four‑panel fluid geometry creates a wave‑like surface, while a built‑in sensor in one panel must be charged before every match, similar to a mobile phone. The sensor records the ball’s movement and contact data in near real‑time, feeding information to VAR officials to instantly detect whether the ball crossed the goal line. The sensor battery lasts about six hours, enough for a full match, and its placement on an outer panel does not affect ball performance.
