adidas unveils Adizero Adios Pro 5 competition running shoe

adidas has officially unveiled the Adizero Adios Pro 5, a new long-distance competition running shoe that introduces significant technological shifts from its predecessor, the Adios Pro 4.

A primary innovation is the replacement of the previous ENERGYRODS system with ENERGYRIM, a carbon-infused structure that surrounds the midsole. This new architecture allows for increased volume of LIGHTSTRIKE PRO foam directly under the foot, aiming to balance rigidity with improved stability and comfort during the final stages of a race. adidas claims the shoe delivers 9% more energy return than the previous model.

The Adizero Adios Pro 5 also features a substantial weight reduction. The men's UK 8.5 model weighs 177 grams, which is 23 grams (approximately 12%) lighter than the Adios Pro 4. The design incorporates lessons learned from the elite Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 to create a high-performance shoe that is more accessible to a broader spectrum of runners.
