Adil Rami faces controversy over comments regarding Alexia Putellas

French footballer Adil Rami has sparked significant controversy following remarks made during a Twitch live stream regarding Spanish footballer Alexia Putellas. Rami criticized Putellas’s speech during her Ballon d’Or acceptance, suggesting she should have stopped speaking sooner.

In response to accusations of sexism, Rami defended himself by noting that his FIFA FC 27 team includes several female players, such as Putellas, Aitana Bonmatí, and Salma Paralluelo. He argued that criticizing a player's speech is not an attack on their gender and dismissed the backlash as an attempt by others to play the moral high ground. Rami stated he intends to continue speaking his mind with “respect and franchise,” regardless of public criticism.
