Adios Jojo wins 91st Longacres Mile after disqualification

In a historic first for the 91st running of the Longacres Mile, the race outcome was decided by a disqualification. The 32-1 underdog Adios Jojo was declared the winner after the heavy favorite, Touchy, was disqualified following an inquiry into interference during the stretch run.

Stewards reached a unanimous verdict to demote Touchy and jockey Yedsit Hazlewood from first to second place. The decision followed an objection filed by Kevin Orozco, the jockey aboard Adios Jojo. Presiding Steward Vince Funk stated that the interference was significant enough to have altered the race result.

Adios Jojo, trained by Howie Gibson, secured the $125,000 prize purse victory, earning $68,750. The race took place at Emerald Downs in Auburn, Washington.
