Adm and Gdz Elektrik launch bird protection project in Turkey

Aydem Enerji group companies Adm Elektrik and Gdz Elektrik have announced the expansion of their wildlife protection initiative, transitioning from the ‘New Home for Storks’ project to the ‘Safe Sky for Migratory Birds’ program. The project aims to reduce risks posed by electrical lines to migratory birds across five Turkish provinces: Aydın, Denizli, Muğla, İzmir, and Manisa.

Supported by scientific experts including Associate Professor Dr. Ortaç Onmuş and biologist Muhammet Ertem, the initiative will utilize GPS-GSM tracking devices to monitor bird migration, feeding, and resting patterns. This data, combined with field observations and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), will be used to create risk maps to guide maintenance and insulation work on electrical lines.

Technical measures include adjusting the distance between wires to accommodate large wingspans and installing visibility-enhancing equipment to prevent collisions during fog or twilight. Pilot applications are scheduled to begin in the wetlands of the Milas and Çivril districts.
