Administrative agencies implement new digital and assisted service regulations

The Xunta de Galicia has introduced new regulations to assist citizens who struggle with digital administrative procedures. Through the creation of the Registry of Authorized Public Officials, approximately 140 officials will be trained to use their electronic signatures and identification to assist up to 60,000 citizens who lack technological means or electronic certificates. This assistance is not universal; it is limited to specific procedures explicitly listed in the regional administration’s service guide.

In the United States, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has gained the authority to mandate electronic filing for certain immigration benefit applications. Following a provisional final rule from the Department of Homeland Security, the agency can require digital submissions for any form that has been available electronically for at least 180 days. USCIS must provide at least 60 days of public notice on its website before making electronic filing mandatory for any specific form.
