Administrative delays in Banja Luka and rising foreign labor in Kragujevac
In Republika Srpska, citizens of Banja Luka continue to face bureaucratic hurdles, requiring physical residence certificates for various services despite the availability of electronic data exchange. While the Ministry of Internal Affairs has signed agreements with Gradiška, Laktaši, and Prijedor to enable digital data sharing, Banja Luka remains excluded from this system, forcing residents to visit service counters manually.
Meanwhile, in Kragujevac, Serbia, authorities have issued over 1,700 residence permits to foreign workers since the beginning of the year. The largest groups of workers originate from Nepal, India, and Morocco, with others arriving from Sri Lanka, China, Iran, Bangladesh, Nigeria, and Russia. The influx of foreign labor has prompted local discussions regarding labor shortages and social integration, as well as concerns regarding living conditions and legal support for non-native speakers.
