Ahmet Aras rejects joining AK Party, remains independent
Following his resignation from the Republican People's Party (CHP), Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Aras has addressed rumors regarding his political future. Despite speculation that he might join the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) or the Yeni Parti, Aras clarified that he will remain an independent politician.
Aras stated, “I will not join any party. I will remain independent,” explaining that his decision to leave the CHP was due to a lack of opportunity to engage in politics within the organization. While recent sightings with AK Party Muğla Deputy Kadem Mete fueled rumors, Aras maintains his status as an independent official.
