ADNOC reports 15 vessel attacks and adds 11 tankers to fleet
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) said 15 of its vessels were hit by missiles and drones while transiting the Strait of Hormuz since the conflict began, killing one crew member and injuring 20 others. The attacks, including strikes on the tankers Mombasa B and Al Bahyah, have driven vessel traffic through the chokepoint down to roughly 10% of pre‑war levels.
At the same time, ADNOC Logistics & Services announced a $1.3 billion purchase of eleven tankers – five very large gas carriers and six very large crude carriers. The deal will raise its VLCC fleet to 14 vessels and its VLGC fleet to 12, with nine ships slated for delivery in Q3 2026 and two new‑build VLGCs expected in Q4 2026. ADNOC said the expansion strengthens its shipping capacity and resilience amid the heightened security environment.
