Ado-Ekiti courts oversee assault and murder remand cases
Two separate legal proceedings took place at the Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court involving allegations of domestic violence and homicide.
Akinola Toluwa, 46, appeared before Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun facing a one-count charge of assault. The prosecution alleges that on July 30, Toluwa used a wooden stick to cause severe head injuries to his ex-wife, Ayoola Ajayi, during an argument at a residence in Ikere-Ekiti. Toluwa pleaded not guilty. The court granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety, adjourning the case until October 16.
In a separate matter, the court ordered the remand of Lamidi Salau, 67, and Lamidi Aina, 65, regarding the alleged murder of 25-year-old Kehinde Omize. The prosecution alleges the defendants were involved in a conspiracy related to the death of Omize, who was reportedly attacked with a machete by her husband, Sadiq Ibrahim, during a domestic dispute in the Dalimore area. Ibrahim remains at large. The defendants were remanded at the Ado-Ekiti Correctional Facility, and the case is adjourned until October 9.
