Adobe and Figma advance AI integration in digital design tools
Adobe has launched its Firefly Custom Models in public beta, allowing creators to train the AI engine on specific artistic assets. This feature enables style emulation and character consistency by analyzing user-provided images, such as illustrations or product photography, to ensure new generations match a specific aesthetic. Adobe states these custom models are private and that training data is not integrated into the general Firefly ecosystem.
In the competitive design software landscape, Figma is also expanding its AI-driven automation capabilities. Tools such as Figma Make can convert text prompts or images into production-ready code, while Figma Buzz assists marketers in creating brand-specific assets in bulk. Figma maintains a philosophy where human designers remain the primary pilots of the creative process.
As companies evaluate these technologies, they are weighing different approaches to commercial safety and workflow integration, comparing Adobe’s IP indemnification against Figma’s automation tools and the open-source model offered by Penpot.
