Adobe Photoshop introduces AI Assisted Editor and new generative tools
Adobe has introduced a major update to Photoshop, featuring a new beta workspace called the AI Assisted Editor. This interface is designed around natural-language prompts, allowing users to perform complex edits—such as background removal, image expansion, and object replacement—through simple text instructions. This new mode exists alongside the traditional Pro Editor, ensuring professional workflows remain intact.
Key technical innovations include the Light Adjustment Layer, which brings professional-grade, non-destructive lighting controls (exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, etc.) directly into the Photoshop layer workflow, similar to Camera Raw. Additionally, the Instruct Edit with Masks feature, powered by Firefly Image 5, allows users to describe changes within specific selected areas while keeping unmasked elements like faces or logos untouched.
Another significant tool is Markup, which enables users to visually communicate edits by drawing, circling, or sketching directly on the image to guide the AI. The update also expands support for various AI models, including FLUX 2 Pro, Google Gemini, and GPT Image 2, and integrates Adobe Stock assets more deeply into the application.
