Adobe license fraud endangers data of Vietnamese businesses

Vietnamese companies seeking to cut costs are buying Adobe software through unofficial channels at prices far below market rates. Intermediaries register education or personal licenses with personal email accounts and resell them for commercial use. Adobe audits detect such misuse, terminate the accounts and refuse refunds, causing the loss of cloud‑stored assets and ongoing projects.

Adobe confirmed that accounts linked to fraudulent payment methods, including stolen credit cards and third‑party e‑wallets such as MoMo, are permanently disabled after audit. Tech Data, Adobe’s official distributor in Vietnam, warned that Adobe’s global online store does not support these payment channels, making the transactions illegal. IT managers are urged to avoid unusually cheap licenses, as the resulting data loss can be far more costly than the original purchase price.
