Adobe Lightroom mobile introduces generative AI eye-opening tool

Adobe has launched a new ‘Open Eyes Quick Action’ for the mobile version of Lightroom, available on iOS, iPadOS, and Android. The feature uses generative AI to detect when a person or group has their eyes closed in a photo and allows users to open them with a single tap.

Unlike previous methods in Photoshop Elements that relied on swapping eyes from different photos, this new tool utilizes generative AI to ensure the replacement eyes match the subject's lighting, pose, color, size, and shape. To improve accuracy, the app can reference other images of the same person within the user's Lightroom library.

While the feature is integrated into the mobile app, users on the free version of Lightroom are limited to two uses of the Open Eyes tool before being prompted to subscribe to an Adobe Creative Cloud plan.
