Twelve-year-old Ghanaian content creator Adobea has addressed the backlash following a viral video in which she appeared to be consuming Smirnoff at an outdoor venue. Adobea clarified that the bottle contained only water and was used as a prop for her content. “Please, it was water, not Smirnoff,” she stated, adding that she apologized to her fans and promised not to use such props in future videos.

The incident has sparked significant criticism regarding child protection and the responsibilities of adults supervising young social media personalities. Media personality Nana Aba Anamoah criticized the adults present during the filming, specifically targeting content creator Afia Gongon and the cameraman. Anamoah questioned the judgment of the adults involved, describing the situation as “spectacular adult stupidity” for failing to intervene or prevent the recording of a child with an alcohol bottle.
