Adocem and Ecored discuss new waste management laws in Dominican Republic
The Dominican Association of Portland Cement Producers (Adocem) and the National Business Support Network for Environmental Protection (Ecored) held a webinar to analyze the new legal framework for solid waste management in the Dominican Republic and its implications for the construction sector.
The session focused on the recent updates to the country's legal framework, specifically Law 225-20 on Integrated Management and Co-processing of Solid Waste, along with its subsequent modifications through Laws 98-25 and 36-26. The discussions aimed to guide construction companies toward more sustainable production models and the adoption of circular economy practices.
Experts highlighted that while the new regulations introduce new responsibilities for construction and cement industry actors, they also present opportunities for more efficient and environmentally responsible building practices. The initiative emphasizes the need for coordinated efforts across sectors to ensure successful implementation and innovation in waste valorization.
