Adolfo Corona charged with sexually assaulting courthouse staff

Former Fresno County Superior Court Judge Adolfo M. Corona has been indicted on five federal felony counts, including deprivation of rights under color of law resulting in bodily injury. Prosecutors allege that while serving on the bench, Corona sexually assaulted at least two courthouse employees.

One allegation involves a March 2024 incident where Corona reportedly led a judicial assistant into a courthouse stairwell and committed a non-consensual sexual act. A second incident allegedly occurred in December 2023, involving an employee found unconscious in his chambers.

In addition to the assault charges, Corona faces counts of making false statements and altering documents. Prosecutors claim he attempted to fabricate an alibi involving a motorcycle and tried to influence a dealership worker to change records to support his story.

A tentative jury trial is scheduled for August 10, with legal experts estimating the proceedings could last approximately one month. Corona has previously pleaded not guilty to related state-level charges in Fresno County.
