Adonis Georgiadis defends Greek economic prosperity and discusses health ties with Israel

Greek Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis has addressed criticisms regarding his recent claims of a period of prosperity in Greece. He defended his statement by citing economic data from 2019–2025, noting that the country has achieved simultaneous economic growth above the EU average, a steady reduction in unemployment, and a decrease in debt-to-GDP ratios. Georgiadis argued that no previous six-year period in recent decades has outperformed this current trend in all three metrics.

In a separate development, Georgiadis met with the new Israeli Ambassador to Greece, Pninat Yanay, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in the healthcare sector. The discussions focused on transferring Israeli medical expertise and technology to Greece. A key objective of the meeting was to establish a strong partnership between the Greek National Health System (ESY) and the Sheba Medical Center in Israel to benefit Greek patients and the medical system.
