Ado’s agency threatens legal action following festival backlash

Ado’s management agency, Cloud Nine, has announced it will pursue legal action against individuals engaging in online abuse and defamation following a controversial appearance by the J-pop singer at the Inkigayo Live festival in Tokyo.

The backlash stemmed from performance restrictions during Ado’s headline set on September 23 at the Belluna Dome. Attendees reported being prohibited from filming, taking photographs, or using binoculars during her performance. Some fans also expressed frustration regarding the absence of a traditional all-artist finale on the second night of the event.

Cloud Nine president Takuya Chigira stated that the agency will work with police and lawyers to identify anonymous posters through disclosure requests. The agency aims to combat behaviors including direct social media attacks and the spread of false rumors. Chigira noted that the decision for Ado to perform was made to foster connection between K-pop and Japanese artists, adding that the singer is “okay now.”
