ADPEP launches health campaign for public defenders in Pará
The Association of Public Defenders of the State of Pará (ADPEP) has launched the ‘ADPEP+ Saúde’ campaign, an initiative designed to promote the physical, mental, psychological, and financial well-being of its members.
The campaign coincides with a national study titled ‘Mapeamento de Saúde Ocupacional e Psicossocial no Trabalho das Defensoras e Defensores Públicos no Brasil’ (Mapping of Occupational and Psychosocial Health at Work of Public Defenders in Brazil). Coordinated by the National Association of Public Defenders (ANADEP) and conducted by organizational psychologist Cristiano Costa, the research aims to identify psychosocial, organizational, and occupational factors affecting the profession. The study addresses issues such as cognitive overload, physical and psychological safety, and quality of life.
ADPEP President Bruno Braga noted that the profession involves constant contact with vulnerability and conflict, which can lead to significant emotional burdens. The initiative seeks to provide preventive care through partnerships offering physical activity, psychological support, and medical check-ups to mitigate the impacts of high-stress workloads.
